It’s the question I heard over and over again.
Usually followed by: “I would love to write a book someday, but…”
And the but’s were always legitimate.
But I don’t know where to start. But I’m too busy. But I’m overwhelmed. But I’m not sure my idea is good enough. But I don’t think I can finish.
Every time someone asked me how I wrote books so quickly, I realized they weren’t really asking about speed. They were asking about clarity. They were asking about confidence. They were asking for a way to begin that didn’t feel impossible.
And I understood that feeling deeply...because I had been there too.
How Idea to Ink Began
When I wrote my first novel in less than a month, people assumed I had some kind of magical discipline or superhuman writing routine. I didn’t. What I had was a system: a simple, clarity-first process that helped me choose the right idea, map out my story, and write consistently without burning out.
I started sharing that process with other writers. Then I refined it. Then I tested it. Then I taught it again.
And every time, the same thing happened: Beginners who had been stuck for years suddenly felt clear, confident, and capable.
That’s when I realized this wasn’t just my method...it was a method that could help anyone.
So, I turned it into a course. Then into a set of templates. Then into a community.
That’s how Idea to Ink was born.
Who I Am
Hi! I'm Leslie. I'm a women’s fiction and non-fiction author, instructional designer, and founder of Idea to Ink. I’ve spent years helping writers turn their ideas into finished drafts through clarity-first frameworks, simple planning tools, and warm, encouraging guidance.
I built Idea to Ink because I saw how many aspiring writers were stuck in the same place: full of ideas, full of desire, but unsure how to begin. My goal is to make writing feel approachable, structured, and deeply supported (especially for beginners!)
